Harati: A Celebration of Elegance, Evolution, and Purpose

We believe that life’s beauty lies in its ability to change, adapt, and grow. Just as we strive to become better versions of ourselves, our designs are born from the same spirit of evolution. Today, we introduce Harati, a handbag that embodies this journey—a companion crafted for those who embrace change and find joy in refinement. Harati isn’t just an accessory; it’s a symbol of how we can honor where we’ve been while daring to reach for something more.

Ruah Dining Series: Celebrating The Heart of Kalimantan with HANDEP and Masa Masa

There are moments that remind us why we do what we do, and the Ruah Dining Series we recently hosted with Masa Masa was one of those moments. At HANDEP, our passion is rooted in celebrating and sharing the traditions that make us who we are. Preserving Cultural Roots and Identity with Gustra Adnyana

Art is more than just a career; it’s a vital link to our cultural roots and a reflection of our identity. Gustra Adnyana’s journey from growing up in the artistic heart of Ubud to becoming a curator highlights the transformative power of being immersed in creativity and tradition from an early age. For him, art is not just a practice but a way of life that shapes who we are. This story resonates deeply with the artisans of Kalimantan, where every piece crafted carries the weight of generations, the pulse of the forest, and the soul of the community. In a world that often overlooks the significance of these cultural treasures, how can we ensure that these traditions continue to thrive and define our future?

Our 2022 Impact Report

Covid-19 impacted the world in ways that no one was prepared for, with an unprecedented number of bankruptcies from businesses of all sizes happening in 2020 and 2021. As an impact-driven venture, HANDEP's survival and recovery required maximizing our limited resources to survive, so that the hundreds of Indigenous communities that depend on us continue to thrive. For HANDEP, 2022 was a year of collaboration where we joined forces with other businesses and organizations to amplify our impact. We provided training and workshops to artisan communities, developed collaborative collections, and co-implemented exhibitions. We also started to work with other communities in West Kalimantan, expanding our portfolio to other materials such as Tenun (hand-woven traditional textile). Through these collaborations, we learned that we grew stronger together, encouraging us to pursue this path in the coming years.

Fortunately, we pulled through 2021 just fine and continued to make positive impacts on the people and our planet, thanks to you all for sticking with us.

Our Updates 2021 - Powering Artisans

As a business leader, I could see Covid-19 has aggravated the issue of food insecurity, resulting from the loss of their traditional lands and territories of the Indigenous Dayak community.

Yet, this momentum reinforced the resilience of Indigenous people especially indigenous women, who are often the main providers of food and nutrition to their families. In our villages, the main livelihood of these women is weaving. We had to do every way and leverage every single opportunity to survive our business which hundreds of Indigenous women are dependent upon. Our worst nightmare was to see the business collapsing, which thanks to you all it did not happen. It was a scary but enlightening journey for us as an impact business.

This, once again, shows us the critical roles of women and weaving in sustaining a generation. These all are only possible because of all of us who unite in the spirit of togetherness.

Turut Peduli Lingkungan, Handep Berdayakan Ekonomi Desa di Kalteng

Sekitar 80% wilayah Kalimantan Tengah (Kalteng) didominasi kawasan hutan.
