As a start, we are engaging two rattan smallholder groups (50 members) in two villages, Tewang Rangkang and Tumbang Tarusan, in Katingan district, Central Kalimantan, to supply sustainable rattan materials with end-to-end traceability for brands and businesses in Indonesia's furniture, home decor, and interior industry. 

While the market demand for rattan furniture and home decorations continues to rise, little is spoken about the exploitative practices by the factories and brands towards the smallholder farmers and artisans. Handep is bringing a breath of fresh air into the industry by becoming perhaps the first “sustainable rattan supplier” in Indonesia and globally. Rattans that are sourced and traded sustainably, traceable and transparent.
